Young boy and mother with bike
Price
£3 per child and accompanying adult | £5 per solo adult | Carers FREE

This session is for children and adults who are learning to ride. All ages are welcome as it’s never to late to learn. It can also be a great opportunity for parents and children to learn about the joy of cycling together.

If you are a family with mixed ability cyclists, the track is reserved for learners but other family members are welcome to cycle sensibly around the site (we cannot supervise this and you accept responsibility for your child).

Everyone has a different experience when learning to ride, some will take to it quickly and some will take a few sessions to find their wheels.

About the session

  • A session for children or adults of any age and their parents/carers/guardians to learn about two wheel cycling.
  • Children learn to ride without stabilisers, from finding their balance to to taking your first pedal stroke.
  • Parents/carers/guardians support riders with instruction from our Bikeability team.
  • Once new riders can pedal independently and complete a lap of our track, we recommend attending our Family Cycling sessions to develop further skills such as starting and stopping, cycling in a straight line, etc.
We are unable to provide 1-1 training, but the friendly instructors will dip in and out and give you basic advice and techniques, so that you can support your child to learn to cycle without stabilisers.
