Answers to some of our most frequently asked questions
Yes. We have all-abilities bikes available to try, including trikes, recumbents, two-seater bikes, hand-pedalled bikes and a wheelchair-accessible bike. These speciality bikes are available during our open sessions and for anyone who needs them during other sessions.
We also have two-wheeled bikes for adults and children, as well as balance bikes, trailers, bike seats, tag-alongs and a small tandem.

There is no charge for using our bikes but at extremely busy times people may need to share. If you do bring your own bike you are still welcome to try ours.
We are unable to provide helmets at this time.
Yes. You’ll need to pre-book via Survey Monkey link for each event. See What’s On we will confirm place via email. We are limiting session numbers to 36 which includes parents, carers and rider.
Depending on your child’s age we provide trailers, bike seats or tag-alongs. Please specify what you require on the booking form.

We stay open unless the instructors think conditions are not conducive to cycling (thunder, ice, very heavy downpours). If we have to close the Centre for bad weather, we will put a notice on our Facebook page.

We do not allow dogs on site (with the exception of Guide dogs and Assistance dogs)

Bristol Family Cycling Centre is owned and run by Bristol City Council Sustainable Transport Team.
From 4 July 2020, we should collect details and keep records of staff, citizens and visitors for NHS Test and Trace at facilities provided by Bristol City Council, whether indoor or outdoor venues or mobile settings.
This applies to any facility which provides an on-site service and to any events that take place on its premises.
Information we collect
For customers, we’ll collect where possible:
• name (If there is more than one person in a group, record the name of the ‘lead member’ of the group and the number of people in the group) If the person only interacts with one member of staff, record the names of the member of staff and the person
• contact phone number for the individual or lead member
• date and time of session
We will collect this information at the time of booking via Survey Monkey
We collect this information:
• to help identify people who may have been exposed to coronavirus (COVID-19)
• to contain any outbreak early
• reduce the spread of the virus
• avoid the return of lockdown measures
• protect the NHS and social care sector
We will only share this information with NHS Test and Trace.
NHS Test and Trace may ask for these records because:
• someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 visited the facility recently
• the facility has been identified as the location of a potential local outbreak
The information collected for this purpose will be deleted or disposed of after 21 days.
This does not apply to records or personal information collected for other purposes, in which case the information should be kept for the established retention period.
Data security
Make sure requests to share personal information come from NHS Test and Trace.
Contact tracers will:
• call you from 0300 013 5000
• send you text messages from ‘NHStracing’
• ask you to sign into the NHS Test and Trace contact-tracing website
Contact tracers will never ask you:
• to dial a premium rate number to speak to them, for example those starting with 09 or 087
• to make any form of payment or purchase a product or any kind
• for any details about your bank account
• for your social media or login details, or those of your contacts
• for any passwords or PINs, or ask you to set up any passwords or PINs over the phone
• to reveal protected characteristics that are irrelevant to the needs of test and trace
• to download any software to your PC or ask you to hand over control of your PC, smartphone or tablet to anyone else
• to access any website that does not belong to the government or NHS
They’ll also never disclose any of your personal or medical information to your contacts or provide medical advice on the treatment of any potential coronavirus symptoms.
